Curious how many preorders folks have out there so far.

Ended up reserving one overnight with Apple for launch day but sounds like it might only be the unlocked and not carrier subsidized version. All that work and may just flip or return it unless I can work out something with a carrier to make up the equivalent of the would-be subsidy. I like being an early adopter but the price isn’t my cup of tea without the subsidy.

Did a backup reservation through the carrier that should come fairly early in the game. If my worst case scenario is I have to wait an extra week or two I think I’ll survive

I preordered at 2am (well it was like 2:08 I think by the time I was able to finally able to order. I kept refreshing both website on computer and app on iphone and finally opened up at around 2:08 or so.

I have 2-3 Week delivery so Nov 21 - Nov 28th.

Anyone actually get the Nov 3rd batch? From the looks of it most people in Canada had the same problem couldn''t get through until 2:08 and by then it was 2-3 week delivery.

Hey if you got an earlier one Adam ( Earlier <: 2 weeks delivery) I will buy it off you if you want to return. I am itching to have one earlier.

Ya mine's in the November 3rd launch day batch for pickup at Apple Store in Winnipeg, 256 GB silver. The thing with it is it would cost me a whopping $1500 plus tax if in fact its just an unsubsidized phone. I don't want to make any commitments yet until I know what's going on with the phone I have reserved with the carrier. Not that I'm going to be the guy on eBay trying to sell one for $19,000 but it would have to be worth a guy's while to drive to Winnipeg and back... on his birthday to boot

Hey Adam. That’s ok don’t worry about it then. If you didn’t get it mailed to your place than yeah driving into Wpg to pickup a phone for me is too much. I am fine to wait a couple more weeks.

So far so good!

Few first thoughts:
- coming from a 6 Plus, this is the size of phone that was meant for me. Fits much better in my hand and I think will be much easier on the jeans pocket!
- surprised just how seamless the transition has been to having no home button. The new way of navigating works so well it makes me wish they’d done it sooner
- the camera is a showstopper, portrait mode in particular. I have an SLR that I’ve always used to take the pictures I’m serious about. This is the first phone that might make me leave the camera behind when going out to take a pic for eBrandon or when on a holiday... main exception being situations where I’d need more zoom. I went with the 256 model and am glad I did because I’m going to be loading this thing up with a lot more pics and videos than prev phones
- face id seems decent. Unlocks faster than I was with Touch ID
- the who Face ID emoji thing is interesting, but quite sure based on my usage habits that once the novelty wears off I’ll settle back into text, camera pics and the odd gif.
- like the look of the phone itself but boy is this thing ever slippery. Have to be careful not to put it on anything with any kind of slope or it’s gonna hit the floor. Case can’t arrive in the mail soon enough!

Phone is awesome. I got the Spigen Neo Hybrid case. It’s really good.

Just looked up the price and my eyes started to water a little. A perfectly good iPhone 6S can be picked up nowadays for $200. What advantages does the iPhone X offer that warrants donating a kidney or two?

I preordered at 8am not thinking I’d have a chance and all the preorder slots would be gone. But, I was able to preorder and picked it up Friday afternoon. Very smooth process for once. Love it.

Or, you can get a 2-3 year old Samsung with all the features, a ton less money, and the ability to expand storage. Or get the top of the line Samsung, with even better features, for a lot less money.

Mine was just delivered in the mail this morning. So far I am really likely it.

Face ID it working awesome! Unlocks way faster than the touch id that's for sure.

Of course I have already sent some anemojis. lol Fun stuff

I’ve had mine just over a week. So far, no complaints. I was hesitant an FACE-ID, but in my experience, it works faster than touch-id, and works while wearing polarized sunglasses.
I’ve used Apple Pay everywhere, and it’s faster also.

All the new Gestures I find are very intuitive, and I find myself navigating my phone faster than my 6S.
Bonus is, now that it’s winter, I don’t need to take off my gloves to unlock my phone.

Finally, with the 8 & the X we have wireless charging. Love it, it’s great, and works with my magnetic wallet case.

Cameras
, battery, screen, size = fantastic.
Notch? Don’t even notice it after 5 minutes.

So, should you upgrade? If you are on a 6S or older, I would say yes.

I'm an Android person but I tried the iPhone X at Bestbuy and I must say I was impressed. Too bad iPhone relies on iTune too much.

iPhone relies on iTunes too much? Umm, how? I think the last iPhone that needed iTunes to sync was the 3GS, or the 4. So, 7-8 years ago?
