Has anyone tried one of these devices? it looks like a router and connects with your existing home lan line and we were told it is much cheaper. Don't you still have to pay the basic services from mts/bell? it sounds too good to be true. any feed back is appreciated.

Think you're talking about a box that you get from Rogers that provides home telephone service. For Rogers wireless customers I believe it's about $20/month for unlimited Canada wide and $25/month for Can/US unlimited. The box that your home phone connects to communicates with a Rogers tower and that's how you get your in house phone service.

We got one when our kids had cell phones with rogers. Still have it and love! Kids no longer are with this carrier and we were still able to keep it. Not too good to be true. Unlimited long distance for 14.91 a month

I have the same system, only through Telus. You connect a small box to your home phone and it operates through the cell towers. This plan costs me $10 a month with no long distance in canada and no overcharges of any kind. I cancelled my MTS account and went strictly with Telus for smart phone and home phone.

Still have 911 and quality is excellent, only thing is that your number is not published in the phone book.

Try Voipmuch.ca. It is only $10 a month and you get Brandon number. Long distance across Canada and the US. Lots of features and you do get 911.

And loved it. Just an extra $13 on my cell bill. Was sad when I couldn’t get it out where I moved.

I may even still have the router/modem if you want it

Think voip requires a connection thru the internet the others use cell towers

Our mts and had them transfer that # to rogers so our home phone # never changed. Still have 911. No issues with call quality
