Hello! Im looking for some people to give 5th edition dungeons and dragons a try. I've not played but I do have the 3.5e redbox edition(starter set), as well as the Player's hand book and the Dungeon Masters Guide. I also have the various campaigns for 5e, Princes of the Apocalypse, Hoard of the Dragon Queen, Rise of Tiamat, Out of the Abyss and Sword Coast adventurer's guide.  
 
So I guess ideally, Im looking for 4-5 other players who would be willing to give it a try, new players and veterans alike. Meet ups could be in person or online with some of the online applications available for free. So if you're interested please post up and mayhaps we can organize something.  
 
I should also note, Im 30 so a more mature group would be better.

This sounds like something I would be interested in! I am quite a newbie at it but always wanted to find a group. I'm often free Friday nights and Saturday nights if that helps. (mature nerdy female - hope that helps! LOL)

Right on, hopefully we can get some more interest! With the amount of knowledge there is online, Im sure we can figure out any issues we happen to have if we all end up being new.  
 
Also if some of you have no idea what Dungeons and Dragons is, it's basically a roleplaying game with a set of rules, in this case 5th edition. You basically get to act like a kid and with some rolls of the dice have a crazy adventure! There are all kinds of videos on youtube of various people playing, famous or otherwise and they all seem to have a blast playing!

How does it work playing online? Like on Skype or some sort of video program? Maybe I could find some out of town friends then...

Posting a notice at the Eye Opener bookstore: they have a board for all things gaming related.

Its usually not online, however most online RPG games are run through Roll20 which is an awesome website that has built in character sheets, Dice roller, visual references, a tutorial, as well as video/voice options built in. Great system for people who can't find games locally, and a large following to get new players. Supports just about all Pen and paper RPG games.

For maturity I was just hoping for anything 18+ just so I'm not hanging out with youth, after that I don't mind ages.  
 
As for online like Howiesport mentioned roll 20 is a great option due to its integration and game options. There's also a couple of other online programs that could be used.  
 
I also do have a set of dice and I can get more too and I have the monster manual as well.
