I am looking for a small venue to host a small baby shower in Brandon that would allow us to bring in some dainties/punch and not cost an arm and a leg. Any ideas would be appreciated!

Try one of the community centers. Years ago I was at a baby shower at Westend Community Center on 23rd Street. No idea of cost, but you can bring in your own food no problem. there is also a kitchen there.

Try calling seniors for seniors

If you belong to a church, sometimes the church will let you host a shower there as well

The aviation museum.

Try hotels like Days Inn, Canad Inn, Lakeview Inn & Suites, and there may be others - they may have small meeting rooms you could rent for a couple of hours or an afternoon. I have attended small group functions at Days Inn (room located off main lobby) and at Canad Inn (room located off Aaltos restaurant).

Eastend community centre is really cheap. And you can bring your own food and use the kitchen.  
 
On the city of brandon site there is a list of all community centre's and their capacities amenities etc with pictures . So you can see location, contact info and find one that's suits ur needs. There all pretty cheap depending on your budget they can range from 50-300 bucks. Some are nicer than others and some are better parking etc.
