My workplace had a guy taking cbd, which made him drowsy. He operated a forklift and ended causing an accident due to the fatigue. He was suppose to say when he started taking it because you can't operate heavy machinery under the influence. Cause a huge legal issue. So it depends on your job.
I get if youre doing it for recreational purposes that you wouldnt want them to know, but for medical reasons you really should inform your employer.
