Is there any governmental department who looks after false advertising? I'm talking about flyers advertising items excluded for a no-tax sale and the products were not listed as being excluded from the deal.

TIA! If anyone has any info I would appreciate hearing from you

Are you referring to items that should have been included in the sale were not, without it specifically being listed as an exclusion?

Or do you mean that tax was charged anyway and you got a discount equal to the amount of tax collected so the net effect was no tax (although you still paid tax)?

Just clarifying so you get the right answer (because one is a problem - the other is not).

Yes I bought two items and they weren't listed as an exclusion.

Your time, IMO. False advertising is very often never proven. Usually people have read it improperly. Maybe take it up with the store

That I didn't take it up with the store! I did read the exclusions more than once,, the items I bought were NOT listed. And the tax was not a couple of bucks either.

You can by pass the store manager and get a hold of head office. Thats probably your best bet, if you haven't tried that already.

Was it a curb side pick up? If so, it was picked up (not just ordered) while the sale was still on?

Is is probably your best bet.

Also, I've had issues in the past of a particular store not honouring sale prices on their curbside service, even though I ordered and picked up in the same sale period. It wasn't enough money to make a stink about it (and it was an item I needed anyway), but I watch it more closely now.

Discounts not entered into the system

I have encountered this several times going through the automated check out. Items on the shelf were discounted as 2/5 or 4/8 or buy 1 get one free did not show up on my receipt. I showed this to the staff and they would override the system and correct the price saying that it was not entered into the system. I’m thankful for that but wonder how many customers don’t check and don’t ask?
