Walmart has the most ridiculous policy in place ever. All the people waiting in line can be over taken and other people get in as they phoned and made appointment to get in.  
 
has caused lots of arguments and fights  
 
so unfair as well as many people don't know when they will get there: or have a cellphone: don't even know you can make an appointment to skip the line.  
 
the line is the line: why should people be able to jump the order. I may have been waiting in the line 1/2 hour and then in passes me someone with an appointment.  
 
makes me mad and I have seen others as well getting hot under the collar.  
 
stupid idea not sure if every where but definitely in Brandon Walmart Think it is their managers idea.

So go on your Walmart app and set up.an appointment. So much easier than standing in line. They should have someone telling people so they can do this. That's how I found out about it.

It’s the exact same thing as making a reservation at a restaurant. Or booking an appointment at a salon taking priority over walk ins. You can go on the app (it’s been in place for a couple months now, even though it says new on the app). You book your time, in advance. I like it, and I don’t care who gets mad about it. It’s great for people who are on a break from work , or time crunch as well. Everyone has the option to do it, so it’s not discriminatory. If you don’t have the app, call the store to find out how to book.  
** just double checked the app and it asks you what city/location you want to book at. So I’m guessing it’s at more stores than just Brandon.

is this policy any different than appointments and walk-ins at medical clinics? Are you angered when someone's name is called who took the time to make an appointment? Forget the small stuff, you sweat everything don't you?

There should be some advertising so people are aware that appointments can be made. How about posted signs? Any signs up letting customers know that appointments have priority.

is this for doing daily shopping or going into the pharmacy? could i know on my phone i can look at busy time and it will actually show me some busy times at the store

So this is why I saw a couple people get in ahead of the line. Nice to know about booking.  
 
I hadn't been there in weeks but needed some stuff there that is so much cheaper than any other store so broke down and went. By the way if you are looking for a dog collar they are all out. It also looks like they have cut out more manned tills and added more self checkouts.  
 
What I found frustrating were the many people/couples shopping together. I mean 1 person pushing cart while the other putting stuff in cart and talking together. I thought it was inconsiderate when there were so many people standing outside in the shower. Rule is one person per household but I guess rules are made to be broken.

How did the people who made appointments ever find out that they could make appointments?

Some of us found out by word of mouth, some I think use the app regularly and saw the NEW flag on the link to shopping appointments.

Thank you for this post! I did not know that I could book an appointment rather than standing in line so now I will for sure be doing that. I like shopping at Walmart. I shop in locally owned stores too but I can’t get everything I need that way and I would far sooner shop at our local Walmart that employs local people than shop Amazon that gives no benefit to our community. Our local Walmart employs a lot of local folks that really need their paycheques too.

But I got an email when they started it months ago. It's not a Brandon thing. It's a head office/ corporate thing.

I hadn't heard about this. Are these appointments for general shopping in the store or are they for vaccine at the pharmacy?

Do I go on Walmart Canada app?

Seriously, we are 16 months into a pandemic and there are appointments and time slots for just about everything. Good for them for trying to think outside the box and serve their customers.

Yup, just go on the Walmart App and click on the more button on the bottom. Then click on “book your store visit”. It’ll ask you what store, then book your time.  
 
And for those asking, it’s for general shopping. Not for vaccinations.

I can understand why it would be annoying when you’re waiting in line but really, they are doing nothing wrong and there’s no reason to get mad about it.  
 
I do 95% of our shopping online or by click and collect (and have done so even before covid) but the odd time I do need to go into a store, I always hope there is no lineup! I am young-ish but have an awful back due to arthritis and standing in line for too long hurts me. So an appt for shopping is something I would consider if I had to go shop in store but I would hate to be yelled at or given dirty looks for choosing to utilize this option

does anyone know how to book an appointment to shop at walmart without using a cell phone....I have a laptop...I tried going into my walmart account, and there is no place to book , and I phoned the walmart store, and he said he only could hep me book it on a cell phone...does anyone one know how to book without using a cell phone?

If you prefer to wait in the long line, that’s your choice. I think it’s a great option and saves you a lot of time.

the problem. Everyone thinks all people should have a cell phone! They're bloody expensive for one thing and I don't know how many times I've heard of people dropping their cell, cracking the screen, getting it wet, etc.  
To expect all people to buy a cell phone to get certain privileges is wrong!  
About the appointments, you should be able to pick up your landline phone at home and make an appointment to shop, any place of business. WTH?  
Over the past year and a half there has been businesses asking people to call ahead and make an appointment for shopping so why not WALMART????

the short end of the wedge? Currently there are stores around the world where there are no cashiers, everything is recorded as you place it in your trolley. Entry and payment is by an app on your cell phone.  
Guess a lot of us will stop shopping in major outlets if this ever becomes the norm. Could be good for the smaller shop with personal service.

haha! I am a regular shopper at Wal Mart and I did not know about this. I do click and collect more because I don't wonder the aisles and spend more. I went in on Friday and did my shopping and spent way more then I wanted. Back to click and collect. lol!

That you do not have a car either? Since they are expensive, get damaged in accidents, etc.  
 
The lovely thing about Walmart is you can still shop there even if you do not have a cell phone to use to make an appointment for a shopping time.  
 
It is kind of unfair, I suppose, that appointments cannot be booked on the regular website ( which is all I use otherwise)-it was inconvenient that I had to download the app to be able to book a time for shopping in store. But hey, we all know life is never fair, yet we all get by.

Didn't know you could make appointments to shop. So is there a certain time you have to shop when you book your time or can you take as much time as you want just like when you walk in through the line up? When you use your phones for everything but no one is tracing you. "Good for them for trying to think outside the box and serve their customers" hopefully your not talking about customer service. It is a service that the stores offer as making appointments but the customer service side seems to be going away. Walmart no customer service right now the mall no guest services. So people stock the shelf the customer walks in finds what they want puts it in their cart goes to the check out the store wants you to use the self check out so the customer does and then at some stores I have heard please let us know how we did today? The customer did 100 percent and a great job the store put the item on the shelf and opened the doors so how can you ask about customer service? It will be nice when things start to open up more but again people will still use the online and book appointments online. Hope it does help the smaller stores as they are the stores that need the help and have customer service. There is good and bad with the online shopping also where are the jobs going as your a student wanting work being replaced by computers.

I accidentally did that too when I was first figuring out the app, I booked an appointment instead of booking a pickup time. But it’ll be fine, just leave it, nothing will happen!

Why is it "unfair" that people who made an appointment don't have to wait in line?
