Best batteries for digital camera?

I know digital cameras ar real pigs when it comes to batteries. I would like to know what brand of AA batteries people have found to be the most reliable and long lasting. I've tried rechargeables but found my camera is real finiky, will only work wit certain batteries. Even replacements(fully charged) of the same make would not work. Any advise would be appreciated, thanks.
