Front load washers
3/28/2007 at 9:24 PM
I recently bought a laundry pair, opting for the front load, stackable ones. (the $200 in rebats was HIGHLY influencial) That brought the price to within $200 of the "bargain" pair. The washer is amazing, uses very little water, gets everything cleaner with a lot less soap. Because there is no agitator taking up space in the middle you can wash bigger loads and bulky things such as jackets and even stuffed toys. I had washed a bunch of stuffed toys an elderly lady had sitting in the corner-there was 10+ years of dust and nicotine on them(yuk) They came out looking brand new That brown-grey teddy bear was actually-a very pretty light purple! The spin cycle extracts so much of the water the clothes feel almost dry, therefore less drying time.
When you go to buy one they will always tell you that you need to buy the overpriced HE(high efficiancy) detergent-thats a crock-all you need is a tablespoon of regular laundry soap. In the long run the washer will pay for itself in energy savings and cloths will last longer. I would highly recommend anyone to upgrade to the front load type.
