    I don't quite get why they would rip down part of the building to make the entrance on the north end. Even if they add 40' of parking lot there, it won't fit that many vehicles and a lot of people will have to trek quite always across the lot to get to the north end. Guess we will have to wait and see how this works out in the end. And would be nice to have access to the mall threw the sobeys, but then they are gonna have to track carts across the entire property even more. I know a lot of people (shopping at sobeys or not) would still go threw sobeys just to use a shopping cart for in the rest of the mall

    Just got a confirmation from Sobey's through email that the new Sobeys location will NOT be Sobey's Extra. IT is just a bigger location, and will offer other things that current Sobey's doesn't!

    either something new will go into Sobeys old location or my bet is someone in town will relocate.  
     
    Giant Tiger would fit there nicely.  
     
    Bricks and mortar stores are in trouble though. Hard to justify building new in a Amazon age other than perishables and a need to have today problem solver like busted water taps and such.

    I was there the other day. So far so good but it still is a work in progress.m  
     
    Big Retail like the owners of Giant tiger would normally have no problem switching things mid stream if another "idea" presents itself.  
     
    Most retailers in my day when I worked retail plan for a major reset every five years. Lots of bucks spent.  
     
    This countries retailers in particular are wasteful in some ways. Large buildings mere decades old are leveled and replaced. You would not see that in the UK. Anyway it will be interesting to see what happens to the old site.

    AS per Sobey's, no details are available at this time regarding Sobey's West End location.

    So looking at the drawings it looks like they are not removing the north end of the old target, and adding 4 free standing resteraunt spots in the existing parking lot. Won't this create a parking problem at Christmas time?

    One thing you're seeing more of is Canadian Tire and Marks in close proximity (or even same building). Or In Swift Current right next to Canadian Tire is a shared building between Marks and Sport Chek (all same parent company). Fun to dream these things up, but who knows where existing leases are at, what management scenarios would work, etc etc.  
     
    Also someone mentioned Giant Tiger for the old Sobeys space. I see that they're doing some exterior work on their Vic Ave location so assume they have no plans to not be there?

    It would be wonderful to get a Giant Tiger in the old Sobeys spot - we need more of that type of business in the South end - glad to hear.
