Looks like I am going to be needing to replace my central air unit. Would appreciate your opinions on who to call to do the job.

Just did ours and they were great to deal with.

Very competitive pricing. They gave us three quotes for different range products (high, low and mid). They installed it quickly and it is working great!

Highly recommend them.

Good products, good price, good guys.

They finished doing an install at our place not to long ago. The guys that came to do the installation were awesome. We were given a couple of options to choose from (to fit our budget) and there was almost no waiting time from when we picked our unit, till install.

the company that installed ours suggested a certain size for the house (2 storeys) and it cools great.

I do believe they have financing, but I really can't comment too much on that as we didn't use it.

I just wanted to add that Lance did come into our house at the beginning so we could talk about our needs, and how we would be using the unit. He then presented options which we could pick from to suit our budget.

I would NOT recommend west side plumbing hope you don't have a Freon leak as they don't want to waist time to find leak just had mine installed by Brandon heating & plumbing WAY BETTER service they have carrier and lennox a/c units and check for rebate sales offerered

Call Lance Wagner and have them come and look at the old unit. I had Brandon Heating and Plumbing tell me mine needed full replacement. I got a second opinion from Lance Wagner who actually fixed my old unit for $100. So beware of Brandon Plumbing and Heating!

I would replace the unit only if the refridgerant leaks in several places.

A small leak can be fixed. A fan not turning is an easy fix, a new motor or start capacitor. A compressor can be switched out.

depending on what it is doing or not, it might be a small fix, A/C units will last as long or longer than a furnace.

I would call Manly at First Call, I got a price quote from him a few years ago to do ours, he was the cheapest quote I got and like a dummy did not go with the cheapest. choose to spend more. dont ask why.

It appears my AC unit has a hole on the drip pan, and I was told I needed a whole new AC, this just doesn't seem right?? I know its an older AC unit, but its blowing cold air, and seems fine, except for the water in my laundry room. It appears the drip pan may be joined to the coil...does anyone know if you can replace just the coil/drip pan on an older Carrier model??

you can replace just the coil in most cases , competant repairman can find a replacement

How much were your quotes as a guide? I know it depends on the size of the house and system etc.
I am thinking of getting it installed in our 1200 sq ft home. It would be nice to have a rough idea of costs involved before we get someone to come all the way out. We are rural.

Replacing the coil

Yes a coil can be replaced if its newer and isnt a R22 system if that's the case then you will need to replace the unit R22 parts and Refrigerant are being phased out so much that there not being manufactured anymore and the refrigerant is stupidly expensive to get.

So as a Plumbing and Heating contractor I would suggest if its R22 and the whole is caused by corrosion replace the unit.
