Has anyone used a moving company that wasn't crazy expensive and didn't ruin your things? Looking for a short distance move.  
 
Also, can anyone recommend a contractor for a small kitchen job? (putting in a wall oven)

It’s a good luck on that one:/ used 3 different ones in past 2 yrs and no luck with any of what you’ve described.

You get what you pay for. Had good and bad experiences with some. Last couple house moves I've used CNC building movers. Very professional and pleasant to deal with. Top notch equipment. Can't say anything on what the cost of your job would be, but if you don't want to spend money, don't expect things to be perfect.

I've used CDC Movers 3 times over the past few years and I have been extremely happy with them every time. They are very careful with my belongings, they work quickly, they are polite and friendly... super guys!  
 
And the best part... they are very affordable!!! They charge $110/ hour for the big truck and I think they have a smaller truck and charge less for that one if you only have a bit to move.

Sorry, maybe I was mistaken. I thought the question was about moving houses, not belongings as the previous post says. If that's the case, I have no experience.

We’ve used them twice in the past 5 years and agree they were reasonaopriced, fast, and careful. Worth it!
