Just bought a mobile in glendale. I am wondering I have shirting but not insulated. Does anyone have issues with pipes up here that has no insulated skirting? And if I was to insulate it any ideas as to how?

Just heat tape on our pipes and haven’t had any freezing in the 8 years I’ve lived in my trailer . My skirting is just plywood.

Hi, I am not from Glendale but I don't have insulated skirting and all I have is heat tapes and pipes wrapped. My son did mine, you could call him and he would tell you what he did....Grand Slam plumbing and heating. I have had no problems

Insulated skirting may help, but without heat tape your pipes are most certainly going to freeze.

Won't keep your pipes from freezing. At best, it may save you a little bit on your heating costs, but I wouldn't bother. Most of your heat loss is out through your windows, not down through the floor. As said, without heat tapes and insulation on pipes, they will freeze even if the skirting is insulated. Make sure the heat tape thermostats are against the pipe, inside the insulated pipe wrap.

K. I am sure it has heat tape under it and everything insulated for pipes.

One other thing you want to figure out is how old the heat tape is. Because they only have about a ten year life span.

When it snows, start shovelling the snow up against your skirting for extra insulation. Obviously exclude the area where you may need to crawl into for fixing your heat tape.

DEPENDS ON TYPE OF TRAILER SOME TRAILER MANUFACTURING RECOMEND NOT A INSULATED SKIRTING AS THE TRAILER HAS TO BE ABLE TO BREATH UNDER NEATH AS TO NOT CAUSE MOLD. When I set up mobile, I was advised to put on two heat tapes but only plug one in. First heat tape failed about 5 years later when it was -33 and bitterly cold. Only had to unplug old tape and plug in new one. Was very thankful not to have to replace heat tape under those conditions.

Lived in Thompson Mb in a mobile bought brand new from Bowes in Portage many years ago was recommended that we not insulate the skirting but do bank the trailer with snow all around. We always had lots of snow so used to bank it up to a foot below the windows it worked well along with heat tape. and ensure you have good slope on the drain pipe as ice an build up over time if you dont use alot of water regularly I was the only one in the place and my drain froze once and it was remedied with more slope if you have multiple users in the place you should be fine. first thing in the spring open the vents up on the skirting to let moisture out for the warm season.
