Water pressure

Anyone else experiencing low water pressure in their home. Mines being weird.

Has anyone heard of what happened or if there is an ETA of services being restored? Just wondering what to do with the kids etc!

Yup, low pressure on 14th near Victoria as well. Can't find any info on the city of brandon site yet, hopefully soon

On the North Hill by the Sportsplex and I’ve got very low water pressure too. No idea what’s causing it. Seems almost city wide

Looks to be city wide I'm guessing, I tried calling the reporting line but they don't start until 8:30am, I tried searching city of brandon media releases but don't see anything

The break will probably be in the Rosser/ University ward. Why would I say that? ...A few weeks back the city raised the water pressure to accommodate the new four storey apartment block being built at 18th and Princess. My buildings in the area were effected by the gain in pressure with troubles of pipes now banging and toilets blowing gaskets. I said it a few weeks back to friends that sooner than later, the hunderd year old lines in the neighbourhood will blow apart or won't last long. I'm not saying this is what happened... But it wouldn't surprise me that this is what has happened.

Just my opinion, I may be (or probably) wrong.

City added this update to the notice:

“Update as of 9:30 a.m.:
City crews have located the exact location of the water main break. They are currently working on a solution to isolate the issue and restore pressure to much of the affected areas in the City.

Updates will continue to be provided as information becomes available.”

***** EDITED TO ADD, just saw the city post in the comments of their boil water advisory, that EVERYONE west of 18th st and south of Assiniboine up to city limits is i:ncluded in the boil water advisory.

But it doesn’t say everyone affected with water pressure today on the boil water. On fb, it says everyone south of the Assiniboine (I had friends on the North hill affected today) and west of 18th st up to city limits. 34th wasn’t affected today and they are in city limits?? And brookdale is west of 18th and with city limits, but wasn’t affected this morning?

Here’s the city media release on the advisory. I’m glad someone posted it here, I haven’t been on social media today.

If this is your first rodeo like it is mine, the press release mentions the following for the affected area:

“ Until further notice, all water used for consumption in the affected area should be brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute before it is used for:
- Drinking and ice making
- Preparing beverages, such as infant formula
- Preparing food, including washing fruits and vegetables
- Brushing teeth”

Interestingly Linden Lanes spray park still going. Don’t have all the facts, but I’m going to guess that there are a lot of instances involving water at a spray park that aren’t a whole lot different than brushing your teeth?

Had to reconsider a drink purchase this PM knowing that the drink would use ice and that water would've been involved at some point. Might try later but will double check that it’s made with boiled or otherwise pure water!

I live in the east end...east of 1st st. am I under a boil water advisory? I looked at the map , but am unsure if I need to boil my water. Just checked ebrandon now and have not been boiling my water all day.

The map the city put out is terrible to try to read but it states south of assinaboine river and west of 18th st. If your east of 18th st your fine.

What broke? Why for the first time in my 51 years living in several cities do I have to boil my water? Back in the day it would be the top story! Yet people ask why spray parks are closed! Is it possibly the over building in Brandon where we just giver and never think of the planning requirements to get water and sewage to the sprawl? Increase water pressure to outdated mains and see how it goes? Like seriously I can't be the only person that wonders WHAT OR WHO CAUSED THIS!!sheesh.
