I am contemplating putting a subfloor in our basement. I have heard mixed reviews on whether or not you can put a carpet down directly on DMX 2.0 dimpled membranes. The manufacturer says that you'll feel the dimples, but many say you won't. I'd love to test this out with our particular carpet, so I am wondering if anyone might have a small fragment of this underlayment (maybe 1 ft square) left over from a flooring project that I could try out?

I used drycore and couldn’t be happier. Perfectly flat surface to install whatever kind of flooring you want over.

Don't use it for carpet. ..flooring installer for 20+ years.  
Use a good 8-10lb rebond carpet pad or a closed cell premium carpet pad. Listen to the manufacturer's recommendations or you will rue the day you didn't...trust me on that.
