Well water smell

Two days ago the smell of our well water suddenly changed. It now has this minerally smell that I can't quite place. We shocked the well and are going to get it tested before drinking it again, but just wondering if anyone had any thoughts. It seemed weird that it just suddenly changed one day.

We have the same problem. Our water has a metallic smell to it especially the hot water in the shower. Cold water is not as noticeable. Our water comes from a sandpoint only 10 feet down we are also on a lakefront lot.

google says could be high level of iron

Yeah, very noticeable in the hot water, less noticeable in cold water and once it goes through our under sink filter it's not noticeable.

Is the smell new for you too? Or has it always been like that.

We have a full person sized well that is 30 ft, not by any large bodies of water.

Just a suggestion

Might need to replace /remove the anode rod from the water tank heater. Not saying thats the problem thou but if it from the hot water side maybe.

No I removed the anode rod years ago because of the rotten egg smell. This metallic smell only in hot water is something my neighbours all have it's quite common.
