Help!!! Clothes dryer will start but not keep running

I have done several loads of laundry today (which I always do) and then when I went to put in the last load in the dryer, I turn on the start switch, it starts, but once I release the start switch, it stops. I am not going to stand there and hold the switch for an hour, so off to the laundromat I go. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? I do not want to pay someone $50 an hour to do a 10 minute job.
