Air conditioning maintenance?

Hi there folks, I bought a house this summer and it has air conditioning. Is there any type of routine yearly maintenance that should be done to it prior to using it or do you just uncover it and go? It was put in brand new last year too.
If there is maintenance to be done does anyone reccomend a reliable refrigeration company? Thanks all.
