Carpet cleaning

just wondering if anyone out there has any ideas on how to or what works to clean a stained (juice/pop/coffee) carpet. its an all over job, i tryed Resolve Carpet Cleaner spray but found the smell a little strong for the kids.... i dont want to rent a carpet cleaner, just wondering if anyone has any different ideas.....thanks
