Can someone recommend a good home inspector? I fell in love with a VERY old house & need a thorough inspection.

My experience has been that if I think I need an inspection, I probably shouldn't buy the place.

I have never had a better inspection. On my last home, I got over 600 digital photos on a CD, a detailed report and an amazing home owners book over 300 pages of information on what to look for or how to fix common problems.

He is friendly, knowledgeable and fast. Would gladly give you more information if you want. I know three other people who have also used his services and were very pleased.

We also used jeff at. crocus home inspections. Great guy and he also gave us the disc full of pictures and a huge book about renos and fixing things.

For our electrician we use Dan, came highly recommended by friends and have used him a few times.

Jeff from Crocus he is a super nice guy! He does great work he even told us if the house we wanted was closer to where he lived he'd buy it haha and we did buy it in October and it's great!!

I think eve if you don't think you need an inspection done you should get one. I don't agree with the post saying if you think it needs one don't buy the house... Unless you know all about houses it's just the safe thing to do there is a lot of things that you don't see or have the knowledge for that an inspector can catch. Even new homes now can have major issues if not built proper a new home can give you as much if not more headaches and money problems then an older home!

When buying a home...

It is a good idea to have in the offer to purchase that the deal is good to go through contingent on a passed home inspection. Anyone buying a house, regardless of its age, should have a home inspection done. It does not mean there is anything wrong with the house. If there are issues, e.g. needs new shingles, then these issues can be worked through with perhaps the Vendor lowering the sale price to help offset the cost of reshingling.

For my place the bank wanted me to used Good Deads ,I was told that they have been using him for all their home inspections and really liked how he does things.
