Wondering if anyone knows if there is a mold specialist in the area that could inspect and possibly remove mold. We have an issue with mold in our basement and in one area it is on the ceiling and the walls. I'm not sure whether it is considered a health risk or not for the amount that is there but I would sure feel better about getting it checked out. Thanks!

There isn't a real mold specialist in Brandon but are some companies that deal with it like Cancade Restoration...Mold is a serious health risk and is taken way to lightly...If it's airborne then you have a serious situation in your house and I would deal with it pronto...In removing it you have to wear protection for your eyes,skin,mouth and nose...I would call Cancade Restoration if it's that bad..

Cancade Restoration does deal with removal and remediation, but there is a company called Pinchin that does environmental testing and assessment for homeowners.

Just so you know mold has to be totally removed from your house and not masked over with any kind of agent or it will resurface over time and you have to deal with the moisture issue that is causing it or you will always have it.. Can be an expensive fix but ones health is so worth it...

Thank you all for the help! I wanna get this checked out real soon. It has been down there for quite some time now and although no one is feeling sick from it I still worry that it might make someone sick. I just hope it hasn't done something already. Thank you so much for the information!

Eliminate the source, leak.

I don't believe there are any leaks, none that I'm aware of anyway. I think the problem is that the basement never gets aired out and a couple summers put a lot of condensation on the ceiling and now I notice the walls have mold again. I did clean the walls once years ago, it wasn't much, but it's back and now more than before. There is a dehumidifier down there now, I guess a little late but will be good to keep down there once it gets all cleaned.
