Does anyone own a polyethylene (plastic) garden shed? Looking to buy one, but I would like to know how they stand up to the weather: hail damage, fading from the sun, cracks, etc. Is it a good investment?

I could really use some opinions

My BIL had one. He seemed to like it. It did fade in the sun, and I don't think it got exposed to large hail, etc. It did ding easily - he bought it already damaged as a display model for cheap. There were also concerns about heavy snow load too, so he kept it clear on the most part.  
 
We are currently building a wooden shed to replace our old wood shed that came with this house.

it's about 4 years old, no fading, no leaks, its holding up great.

We put one up in our backyard last spring, it's been fine so far. I like the look and it was a lot easier (and cheaper) than building a wooden one. And it's much nicer than the metal ones.

When shopping for a new shed, we looked at all options. The ones we seen had holes in them. They are like a vinyl siding in the cold, if you are not careful they will crack and get holes in them. They look very nice new and easy to put up. We opted for both a metal and a wood shed. We are far happier with the wood shed. Also checked out the options for wood sheds and spent the extra money for the completely finished one and the more quality products. The metal one is good as long as you have nobody playing ball by it. Dings easy. We do have a poly recycle, garbage bin shed. We store it in our screened porch, but have to be very careful with in the cold.
