Planing a slab of wood

I have a piece of wood that is just under 17" wide (around 10 feet long). Is there anywhere that has a planer to use or rent or somewhere that will plane it? I've phoned a couple places but have run out of ideas.
It is going to be a countertop so I'd like it as smooth as possible so don't really want to just use a belt sander on it. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
