So the lock on one of my doors is malfunctioning. It's an electronic keypad style.  
 
What happens is I enter the code and I can hear the gears turn and it begins to unlock...and then ignore seems to stall. It seems like the lock thinks it's unlocked, but the deadbolt is still engaged  
 
I know it's not the combination. By about the tenth try, it finally unlocks and I haven't done anything different.  
 
I know it's not a power related issue as I tried a few different (new) 9volts.  
 
I don't think it's an issue with the door shifting because why would it eventually just work?  
 
Anyway...that's all the information I have. Just wondering if anyone knows what it might be? I'll buy a new one if I have to but I'd like to try and fix it if someone can point me in the right direction.

I don't know much about them, but if it were me, I would try it with the door open. If it works every time, then I would assume it is an issue with too much drag between the bolt and the door jamb. If it still works intermittently, then at least you know it isn't the fit of the door. Try to eliminate one variable at a time, and hopefully you can narrow it down to one thing that is causing the issue. Even if you have to remove the lock assembly from the door and try it,at least you will know.
