So your weed eater gas powered from Walmart finally crapped out. We have refurbished as much as we can. It's done. So I'm wondering what others are using and happy with? I was reading some of the Cdn tire reviews on the Huskie curved and straight shaft but I'm wondering if they are worth the 300 bucks? Is there something you like better? Walmart "stuff" is out of the question as we need something a bit more powerful. Likely a 2 cycle just because they are "lighter". Now we have a rural property with pretty big yard with lots of beds and trees to trim around. Any recommendations out there? We need one fairly soon as we currently have nothing as of yesterday!!

I would goto Enns Brothers and checkout the Stihl products. I have two trimmers, one with the bicycle handle, and a yard boss that use other attachments. The easy start is great, haven't had any complaints from my wife or kids over starting them. Various different trimmer heads that are quick to change, I have one with three nylon blades, for when I don't want to worry about trimmer line.

I purchased my Husqvarna whacker from Canadian Tire because of better pricing. Decided to get an attachment later on and found out from C&C "huskqvarna dealer" that none would work for my CT model even though the model was the same.  
Seems there is different types of class made for big box stores and dealer stores !  
 
This about the same as the mig welder, steel feed wheels verse plastic wheels

That is very interesting to know... however is your huskie from CY still running? Are you happy with it as a trimmer? We have a huskie chain saw and a hedge trimmer so doubt we would be in the market for the attachments. Just curious...

As above, see Enns Brothers. The Stihl units are very affordable and work great.

I second that Stihls are great machines.. just purchased one from Regent Rentals

No troubles with the trimmer at all, a lot of hours on it.  
The attachment I wanted was the edger to spruce things up more.

Hey I went through two Stihl gas hobbies. 1st one lasted 12 years great !  
The 3years ago bought a new one. If I recall the 1st had on.043 motor. Cost was $159 as on TV. Same price for 2nd machine and motor was only .037 or something close to that. It was junk. Carb kept flooding so took it back and after 3 months Enns got a new carb on. Got it home and same flooding problem almost impossible to start. Called my local yard maintenance guy who has fixed all our motorized items for years.  
He said he could fix it but instead I offered it to him for $75. He took it and modified the carb to run which was something Enns couldn't do as they were fixing under Stihl warranty.  
Went to Home Depot and bought Ryobi rechargeable for $110. Fabulous machine that cuts everything Stihl did on my acreage...tall,thick grass,weeds etc. And this machine has Lihtium battery that hold charge a long time, recharges quickly and battery is part of the Ryobi "One" system so I can power many of their products. Phooey on gas whackers
