Hi....So I sold my house and with the house inspection they found a cracked heat exchanger in the furnace...Hydro is coming on Monday to check it out...what I am wandering is...How much does a furnace cost????...
I need to have it fixed for the safety for the new owners...and peace of mine...I am happy they found it...I had no idea anything was wrong..
Anyone know a good heating company that can give me a safe good furnace that not going to run into too much of my profit from the house...

If the two furnace replacements I was involved with over the last 6 months or so are any guide you can probably expect around $3000-3500 installed best case scenario, give or take. Best to have your particular furnace and house quoted on since some jobs could potentially be more involved that others and some houses may have different furnace needs than others. Some quality companies in town, I've had good experience with Manly at First Call as far as a fair balance of price/service. I'm sure other folks will have dealt with companies they can recommend as well. Good luck!

I recommend First Call as well. They do an excellent job at fair prices.

Sounds about right for a high efficiency furnace. If it were me, I would be looking at a mid-efficiency, as you are moving out. That being said, if I were the buyer I would be more apt to get a quote and then deduct that off of my offer. I'd much rather have control over who is installing it and what is being installed, as I am the one moving into the house.

Thanks for the advice...its one of the conditions now and I need to have it fixed...would the warranty for the new furnace be in my name...so the new owner would it be worthless to him if something happened in the first year...dont know much about these things..learning...first time I sold...never had any idea something was wrong with it...

You sound like a reasonable person who wants to do the best thing.

Talk to your real estate agent. They can provide valuable input as to how to best resolve the situation.

My son bought a house and agreed to pay extra to have furnace upgraded. Your situation is not a new one. A couple of communication phone calls should help you find the best alternative.

Can't do mid efficient furnaces anymore. But you can find better pricing with the same products for less and installed by some of the best people in town. Message me

We replaced our furnace earlier this year. Brandon plumbing and heating came out (we live out of town) and gave us quotes. 3 in total each one a little different as the furnaces were different. I can't remember exactly what we paid but it was about $3500. They came within the same week and installed. We couldn't be happier with it and the service we received.
