There is a crazy maple bug infestation around my property. (outside only) It went from seeing 2 or 3 on my garage wall to being TONS of them very shortly. I've sprayed them with raid and it seems like it killed them off for a couple days and then they came right back.  
 
I spoke to an exterminator friend from out of province and he says there's not really a lot you can do about it. They explode for a short season and they're annoying but they're not dangerous or anything. He said having an exterminator come in wouldnt necessarily prevent them from coming back, it'd just be an expensive temporary fix, not a whole lot different than what I did with raid, only more comprehensive.  
 
I'm wondering if anyone else has experience with this and any good suggestions?

a very bad issue with maple bugs each year - I find they do tend to love stucco more than anything.  
 
The only success we have had was to keep them out of the house by filling cracks where they come in and spraying the areas they congregate in with a residual poison. That way they stay outside, but the hoardes are still gross.  
 
Not sure about their breeding habits or anything like that - maybe a bit of research in to their life cycle might be the ticket to finding a solution?

Dish soap and water solution sprayed on them kills them as well. Problem is though the bulk of them are high up in the trees.

I had them on the south side of my garage, 1000s of them. Also i have a maple tree next to my garage, so i bought a can of wasp killer (it sprays 30 ft). I used that can on the tree in the knots of the tree where they live i was told, so i sprayed it all on the tree. I did use a couple of cans of normal bug killer on the building, just used the wasp can for the tree to reach. This year i have 0 of these little buggers =)

After a few years of these horrible bugs, I finally sought outside help and got the $50 spray from Poulins. I did the treatment myself last fall onto the side of my house and I have had none at all this year. I still have half the bottle left waiting for if they return. I would highly recommend the spray from Poulins.
