I have a drainage issue around my garage and am thinking of putting in a French drain and found a company named Blue Max Basement Systems that services the Brandon Area and does this type of work. Has anyone had any experience with them? Would they recommend them?

We got a similar system installed in our basement by a local guy named Victor Rochelle out of Kemnay. He did excellent work, we've had zero issues with it and it's made a big difference. I highly recommend him.

I will add that for companies in Winnipeg, if you get them to come out and do a quote they will charge you for it, usually $100-$200 dollars a pop. For "mileage", or at least that's what they told me. And in some cases, they came out, but then never provided the quote!! You had a chase them and one I gave up on.  
 
I suggest going local if you can.

Is this person a self employed handyman or is he a general contractor? Is there a company name to lookup the number?

He owns/runs Vic's Mini Backhoe Service. He also does a lot of the basements etc for new construction from what I understand and all types of concrete work. He does a lot of the work himself but has guys that work for him too. The guy who did a lot of the grunt work/demo for our place and then worked as his helper for the install was an absolute doll.  
 
Eleanore McCallum who used to own Homelife gave me his information, but he can be tricky to track down as he's so busy. If you just google V Rochelle in Brandon he should come up.
