So I rented a carpet cleaner from a store a few weeks ago and it left my carpets looking worse than before ! So I got them professionally cleaned a few days ago and when they dried , a lot of the dirt or dark spots on the carpet were still there ! As well as a few hard spots now ! Any advice on how go get stubborn carpets clean

Did you discuss with the professional that you were not happy with the results? I too had mine professionally done (usually just rent a machine and do it ourself, I usually do it one with soap, once without to make sure I get all the soap out as feel this attracts dirt). I am SO amazed how much cleaner they were with the professional. Before they left they discussed a stain they could not get out, asked what it was to try different things etc.  
 
So my advice is call the professional and ask, maybe they should re-do it or at least discuss the stains with you.

You could order the Norwex stain remover, I hear it works really well.
