I am looking for some information regarding childcare. I have an infant aged child, and it seems to be impossible to find childcare, for when I go back to work! I am set up with the Manitoba childcare online registry, and I am just wondering if I am missing something, or if there are any other options I have not yet explored.

I am a private childcare provider. Your best bet will likely be looking at private or licensed home daycares. There is a category for that here on eBrandon and there are a couple fb groups that you should definitely post an ad on!  
 
In theory the registry seems like a good idea but in reality, it isn’t the best. A lot of times it is just calling/messaging at the right time that often results in a parent finding an open spot.  
 
There are many amazing home providers but just take the time to do some research and meet with a few. I am sure you will find one that you like and who has policies that you agree with

There is definitely a shortage of subsidized spots but if you can afford to pay then you won’t have an issue. Also how far in advance are you looking? Unfortunately if someone is leaving their daycare they only give 2-4 weeks (with the exception of those going to school etc). Places might not even know they will have an opening.

My kids are older and no longer in this stage. All I hear about is how hard it is to find childcare. Especially good childcare, I’ve heard some horrible stories I’ve even thought of becoming a nanny for a family just to help them out, like a granny nanny. I don’t want to run a daycare in my home but I’d definitely be open to being a nanny in their home. Do people need this sort of service?
