You need to step up and take responsibility for your children and your pets. Your bf is not mature enough to be "parenting" anything. No, he is not a " great guy" he is abusive! Why would you even want to be with someone who is hurting your children and pets? If your children and pets are being abused and you do nothing about it you are complicit in it. Just the fact that you came on here asking for advice shows that you know this is wrong. When you confronted him about the smoke alarm it turned into a fight. He ended up blaming you and made himself the victim.
You are allowing this.
You need to show up, step up, and grow up for your kids.
