Laundry Help

I'm just wondering if anyone knows any tricks for laundry. I've never been one for sorting my laudnry, and have never really had any problems but now im starting to notice my kids clothes are getting dingy. I am now going to start sorting to solve the color running but wondering if anyone has any ideas to get the clothes that have gotten dingy back to normal? Its just the last 2 or 3 loads that ive noticed it and im sure its because with a baby back in the house theres alot more light clothing. Also looking for great stain removal tricks for (small kid) stains that have been washed but didnt come out.
