Too Soon

My husband and I are currently trying to conceive. We know that there is a very good chance that we are going to have a hard time conceiving (long story for another thread some other time).
As of right now we aren't to busy with work or other things in our lives, we are contemplating getting the nursery ready. We are planning on renovating the basement in the summer, and our "office" will be moved downstairs to accomodate a possible nursery.
I knowing full well that I shouldn't be painting while I am pregnant, and my husband HATES painting, we are thinking about starting this now. Our reasons are that if our lives become busier, and I do get pregnant, that the painting and minor decorating will be done.
We aren't talking about buying clothes and diapers at this time, or even car seats or other plastic items (due to their expiry dates), but just the painting, and possibly looking for items like a change table at garage sales in the spring, and decorating it to our theme.
Do you think it is too soon? Are we jumping the gun, or just being prepared? Has anyone else done this?
For More Information: We are trying to keep it a secret from our friends, as we don't want the pressure of everyone asking "hows it going" ::wink wink::. Both our parents know we are trying, and we don't entertain our friends at our house at this time.
Thank you in advance for the help.
