Missing Socks {Laundry}

Missing socks is a constant investigation for our family. I have a laundry basket full of socks that don't have matches.
I've gone through this basket and thrown out ones that have been long-gone, but the pile seems to keep growing.
I'm sick of having them in this laundry basket!
What do you do with your socks that are waiting for their mate? Where do you keep them? For how long?
