Crib Safety

I'm soo utterly mad at this point i need to vent! I bought my sons crib in Jan/08 from Wal-mart, it's a Storkcraft convertable wooden crib, since he's been in it he has gotten his leg stuck 4 times! I've called the 1-866 number but NOTHING!, i know there was a re-call on storkcraft cribs, but the part that was re-called is NOT broken on my sons crib, It's the damn rails, their made too far apart in my opion, i have no choice now that he's abit older but to put him in a toddler bed with rails on the sides, if i don't who knows what may happen the next time, he could break his leg!, I'm lucky thus far nothing has happend, but a bruise. The fear that runs threw your body when your child is hurting is ubareable, all 4 times i've had to call my Dad or my brother to help me pull the rails apart to get his leg out, the 5 min wait for them kills me, seeing my son scream in pain. So my question is has anyone else gone through this with their child?, are cribs really that safe? i'm starting to wonder about the quality of theese things.
