Having kids later in life

So I read the discussion about how old is to old to have kids, but there was very little comment from those out there that have had children later in life. I myself am one of those "dinks" that changed paths and had a child but where do I find others? I think the hardest part of having children later is meeting others in the same stage! Most of our friends are age have teenagers so finding playdates is hard...anyone else out there in the same boat?
