Having criminal record and opening daycare??

Is it possible to have a criminal record and be able to open a licensed day care?? Or does it depend on the crime you did? If it had nothing to do with harming children will they just pass you through and give you the ok?? Would any of you take your kids to a daycare that had these issues? Criminal record and warrant???
