Just curious about this months child tax. Will it be the same amount as last month? A new amount as we have a new government? Nothing?

Your dreaming if you think that just because the new government promised an increase in child tax that you will automatically get one the month after they have taken control.

About this one (though damn it would be nice to get it before Christmas)  
 
They did release that they were beginning the tax changes ASAP (I think that means they want to get rid on income splitting before tax season)  
 
Really wish they would get homeland issues out of the way before putting too much energy into bringing 25,000 so called "refugees" here.

If what Trudeau talked about to be true with changes he would like to make regarding child tax, it will probably be a couple of months before we see those new changes.  
 
Even when Harper was still in control and decided to make changes regarding the universal child tax benefit, that took a couple of months to come into effect.  
 
Once the changes happen, especially since these changes will have to do with the Canada Revenue Agency, the public will definitely be notified.  
 
So to answer your question, the changes Harper made while in control will still stand for now.

I'd be really surprised if this change happened before July 2016. That's usually when the new year starts after tax season. It will definetly take awhile before they implement it. I think you'll hear about it in the media months before the change. Just like Harper did with Uccb. Just my opinion though.

The changes recently made to the UCCB, it will have to be voted on by parliament as part of the 2016-2017 budget. I do not know if the new government plans to make it retroactive like the last one, but any changes will be announced as part of the new budget year. The money for this year is allotted, signed off on, and spent until June of 2016.

CHild tax? For grins I looked at my account and the October payment shows deposited. December payment is in progress but for November it shows N/A. That doesn't make sense!

I wonder how the new system is going to affect those on Social Assistance and those living in low rentals, since this is an income that has to be declared.

The old UCTB was income that had to be declared, this new system supposedly is tax free.  
 
We will have to wait to see the specifics of how they actually roll it out.

The payments take about a month to process. October has been done and deposited, so it shows as completed.  
 
November is in progress, the amounts are finalized and the amounts go to Public Works for depositing, so it shows Not Available. They're basically in transit (literally, last i knew they still used magnetic tape to transfer the data to the payment processing centre).  
 
December is still being processed and the amounts are not finalized yet. They will probably be "in progress" for another week or so yet for a Dec 13 deposit, then the amounts are finalized and the data transfer occurs.

But like others have said it has to go through Parliament first. I don't even thing they're sitting yet.  
 
Odds are if there is a change, it will be retroactive and you'll get a lump sum. That's a big "if".
