Hello,  
I am a mom of a 2 1/2 year old daughter and a 6 month old son! I am just wondering if there is anyone out there with children around the same age that would like to get together for some play dates! I am 25 and finding it difficult to find people around my age that have children around the same age

I feel your pain mama. My little one is now 9 months and is our first and I'm desperately trying to find groups or activities for her. The Y has some parented programs but she's not old enough yet.

You may have to complete a child abuse registry check, but many daycares will welcome the additional one or two children in exchange for the additional adult to help with the supervision. This all depends on the centre. For example, the drop in daycare at the Shilo base was where I introduced my daughter to other children while I bumped the ratio to a better rate.  

Richmond hill at 9:45am - noon. Thursdays (starting up again on January 7th) all aged kids there from newborn to 4yr old! Come out! Great time to spend with some christian mamas!

Katwalk, that's a really good idea. Unfortunately I will be going back to work in 3 months. Do you think a daycare would be willing to take me on for such a short period?

I'm not religious at all, would it be weird for me to attend? I used to go to church with a friend when I was younger but don't anymore. I wouldn't want to intrude, but it sounds like a lovely get together for both the kids and mama's.

We do a little discussion for about an hour at the beginning. You don't have to participate at all if you don't want to. There is a good sized group of ladies that come, so don't worry about looking odd if you just sit there haha it's fun! We are doing a study on raising children, lots of great things to learn, even if you aren't religious! There is daycare for the children during this time, which is nice for the older kids! Plus a snack for everyone after and visiting time! It's GREAT! Definitely come out!!!

I am also looking for playdates for my kids, i have a 3 year old son and a 3 month old daughter  
. i am 24 years old i do live out of town but come in quite a bit

If anyone would like to meet over coffee at the play structure at the Y let me know. I'd love to meet some more mama's

While volunteering is great. You would have to pay for your children to be there, you can't just bring them to hangout.

I've got a few friends with kids but they are all much older and unfortunately Ash gets frustrated because she can't keep up with them.

All due respect to the poster, but it's been the experience of me and most other atheists and areligious people I know that it usually is weird  
 
Religious people and non-religious people have very different viewpoints about how integral religion is to an activity.

Hey! I am a nanny and look after a 17 month old. I am female and 22 years old.  
 
We tried the elspeith Reid centre however we were told after that session we couldn't attend again as I was not the child's parent and only the carer.  
 
Originally coming from England I am used to attending (as a child myself), mother & toddler groups, music groups, play sessions etc- it shocks me so much that there is nothing in Brandon to allow children to socialize and develop multiple skills which come from playing and interacting with children their own age!!  
 
There needs to be more groups/sessions were kids can just PLAY with others of the same age or similar!!  
 
I need nanny/mum friends ha!!  
 
LET THE CHILDREN PLAY!!!

Unfortunately I doubt there would even be an open spot for your child if your only volunteering, since they are under two and infant spots are hard to get.  
 
Honestly there is not a lot of socializing a 9 month old can do. I wouldn't be concerned about her being socialized before daycare starts. A good idea though would be to phone the daycare she will attend and ask to come visit the infant room a few times (for around an hour or so, mornings typically work best) so that your daughter gets to be familiar with the room and staff. It makes a big difference when you leave her there full time! I recommend all my future parents to bring there babies for visits before they start.

Well if anyone is up for a meet somewhere I am game! My children would love to meet new playmates! I am going to be checking out elispth Reid in new year if anyone wants to join that I have also heard playtime does have a baby room. I have never been but may be something to look into!

I've heard that about Playtime too. I'd be down for meeting up there for a playdate

I have a 2 yo boy and a 4 month old boy that would love some kids to play with, we don't live right in Brandon but we are in every afternoon with nothing but time to kill while my older girl is at school

It's called Richmond Park Church... I don't know why I thought it was Richmond Hill forgive my "mommy brain"... If you google Richmond Park Mennonite Church it'll show up, but it's right by 26th street and Richmond Ave. Come out next Thursday! It's held in the basement!!

The Early Childhood Education class will be putting on the second annual cardboard challenge at the Assiniboine Community College gymnasium on Friday January 29th.  
 
We will be supplying children with a variety of boxes, loose parts, and other art materials in order to give them a chance to use their creative thinking and imaginations.

If you require transportation within Brandon please indicate so in your response
