Wondering what parents typically pay for before and after school care?  
 
Are snacks included? Does your care provider walk your child to school?

The YMCA before & after school program registration opened to the public today for next school year. I pay $187/month this year for before & after school, next year is going up a few bucks but totally worth it because it is in the school and opens at 7:30, closes at 5:30. No snacks but I don't have to worry about her getting to & from school!

I hire someone to do after school only. The provider meets my child at the classroom and walks him home, staying about 1.5 hours. I generally let them have snacks within reason as my son is also hungry when he gets home. I pay quite a bit - $13 per day worked. (I could likely have done $10 though)The reason I pay well, I need to make sure the teenager I hired shows up everyday and doesn't quit halfway through the year. He also won't have time for after school sports, friends or other activities. I could have paid less but I was afraid I'd have to shop around a bit and I know I'm getting something I can count on.

My provider charges $5 per session you use (breakfast/lunch/snack included). So it's $15 a day for before, lunch and after school. She has a few for just after school, which she then only charges $5 for. Starting at 7:30am, ending at 5:00pm. Extra if earlier or later. She lives a block away from the school, so she walks the children to and from school. I feel this is reasonable for the care/food she is providing!
