Consistency
4/25/2016 at 2:31 PM
I have a 19 month old son that has been sleeping through the night since 3 weeks old, in his own crib, in his own room. He will go to bed at 8pm and sleep right through until 8-8:30 the next morning (lucky I know! Lol) I feel like consistency and routine is key. My son will eat supper, have a bath (we use that Johnsons bedtime bubble bath) and then he can have a bedtime snack, we read a book, and he is in bed by 8. He has 2 of those material books in his crib, so some nights he will quietly look at them and chat for a bit and then he is out cold. I can fully appreciate how difficult the cry it out method is, I hate hearing my child cry, especially when you know you can easily go pick them up. But you have to stick with it at all cost if that is the route you are taking. My son will have an off day now and again, where he has just had a long day and is clearly overtired and fighting it. And as tough as it is we let him cry, because we obviously know how exhausted he is. I would suggest trying that Johnsons bedtime bath if you haven't already, that stuff even makes me sleepy! Lol. I unfortunately don't think there is an easy answer that works for every baby, all the best to you!
