I agree it's rude behaviour. Perhaps next time an off-leash dog starts to jump on my kids i'll make sure my "off leash" kids start jumping and nipping and snarling at the careless dog owners.
Of course the off leash dog owners would be all in a huff and tell me to control my kids. That's when i'd say the same thing i've heard several times... "They've never acted like that before"...
Perhaps if another loose dog in the Brandon Hills trail system starts to try and hump my leg i'm then free to hump the legs of the careless dog owners? No of course not. There'd be police involved, charges, court time, etc...
Should i bring an on-leash doberman to the hills to eat/hurt your off leash dogs even if your off leash dog ran right up to my dobbie? It was self defence i can claim.
Should i fling loaded dog bags of poop in your vehicle, on your work parking lot or at your house?
No. None of these solutions make sense or are ethical, moral or polite. They are in terrible taste. It always blows my mind how so many blatantly just don't care.
That's fine. I have a practical idea.
The brandon hills wildlife district could use a bylaw officer to part-time roam the hills and issue citations. At the rate it's going there these days the officer could write up more than enough citations to cover their wage and then some....
Ok. Let's hear the opposition roar!!!
Guess what? Play by the rules and you have nothing to worry about.
If you are above the law, too good for common sense of courtesy and common sense, you deserve the fine.
I once got a speeding ticket. Was i angry at the officer? No way- i put myself in that position- speeding in the same spot of highway i often did. This time i got caught due to my actions. Take responsibility for yourself, your actions, and the actions of your pet. Or you just might get caught...
P.S. i wrote this while sick with a very high fever and i hope it makes sense...
