Last Wednesday our old neighbors from the Minnedosa area had their two dogs taken out of their yard while they were at work. They had suspicions that someone had taken them (rather then they got away and went for a jaunt) due to finding blood on the ground where the little one was.  
 
Unfortunately they received a call yesterday saying that someone had seen the one dog as he was trying to make his way home. The dog was horribly beaten, his eye popped out of its socket, broken bones and multiple lacerations. They rushed him to the vet in Brandon where he is now being cared for.  
They returned to the area to search for the smaller dog hoping that she would be not to far off from the other one.. Sadly they found her body instead. She had been beaten to death.  
Due to the extensive injuries that were inflicted their dog is going to need a few surgeries and possibly an amputation. The family started a Go fund me page to help raise money to help pay for the vet bills.

Any funds that are raised over and above the cost of the vet bills will be donated.

If you can afford to donate please do, the surviving dog is going to have a lot of expensive medical bills. Condolences to the family on the loss of their other dog, thinking of you.

Types of dogs were harmed (breeds?). Any idea why this happened. I will donate.

I cant say why this happened. I can say that this family has had some strange happenings in the last few months, vandalism, property damage ect.

This was in the Minnedosa area. The dog who survived is currently in the care of Grand Valley Animal Clinic

What were the breeeds of the dogs involved? The one that survived and the one that did not. This is sickening.

They were both husky Mix breeds...Ive uploaded a picture of the female. The picture of Duke (at the vets is on the GoFundMe page(Warning it is graphic)

So sorry that poor Dutchess lost her life to criminals.  
 
I have posted this to facebook along with a warning to other people in the Minnedosa area to be watchful that their fur kids will be okay.  
 
Prayers that Duke does well with his recovery. So sorry he will lose his eye.

Animals can't properly defend themselves. like us people can. and even that doesn't happen.

It shouldn't surprise me that some people are so inhumane as to beat two innocent creatures, but it still does. I can't understand why someone would actually inflict such pain and suffering on another living creature. Do they enjoy it? My heart goes out to the family and to the dog that survived. I will go down to Grand Valley and make a donation to help with the costs. So sad!

I hope they catch those responsible as the next step for them will be sadistic acts against vulnerable humans. I would like to think that the punishment would fit the crime but doubt it. someone knows who is guilty and hopefully further acts of depraved cruelty can be prevented.

I wish the best for the poor dog that survived, and my condolences to the one who has passed on to a safer place! No for these pukes that have done this, I wish them years of suffering for doing this, a dog cannot hit back nor defend itself. If these were my dogs, the last people I would contact is the police, I would find out who has done this, and handle this in my own way. And I am sure I speek for many that this is what needs to be done, as sure the cops may find out who, then they go to court or less get off on a petty charge. To heck with that, handle it ourselves!!! Again, i am praying for the complete recovery of the dog that found a way to stay alive, and RIP poor pup thats passed on.

I feel for the poor dogs, so do they have proof the dogs were beaten? Or were they run down ? Maybe let lose and chased down if there were previous issues on the property? So odd with the damage the pics show that it could have been from beating the poor thing. Such a small community did anyone see anything? Hope the dog makes a full recovery.

This is incredibly sad and horrible. What human being could beat a pet to death and leave another in such a critical state? What kind of demented person could do this?  
 
As mentioned, pets do not have a voice. This person or people must be mentally deranged to do this to a poor animal.  
 
I am sure this person or party would not like the tables turned and have this done to them.  
 
My blessings to this poor doggie. I am so sorry for the loss of another beautiful dog.. I hope for a wonderful recovery. I hope these low level and ignorant pieces of crap are caught and severely prosecuted for this.  
 
I say low level. If you want to get your aggressions out, don''t take it out on a poor, animal that has no defence.

My heart goes out to you and your loss ... pets become such a part of our families. We hold you in our thoughts and prayers.  
After giving it some thought I felt this was not the right place to talk about other dogs being lost so will remove it from here and start a new discussion ... if Adam feels it is okay.
