I take my daycare to Rideau often and there is usually at least one dog that is unleashed and runs up to the kids/playground. From what I can see, most of the other adults don't care but I'll admit it bugs me. I have a bit of a fear of dogs and don't like the idea of one my daycare kids possibly getting bit or knocked over accidentally. Sometimes it scares the kids there too. I just think that it could possibly turn bad and why would an owner of a dog want that?? If a dog does attack, does it not need to be put down or no? Why put the dog (and child!) in that situation?
I've never said anything to the owner because I don't know what the rules are and I don't want to be labelled as a B*tch " |

Excerpt from the City of Brandon website:
"Owners shall not permit their dog to be anywhere other than on the owner’s premises unless the dog has a collar with the proper license tag, the dog is on a leash (no longer than 1.8 meters/6 feet), and the dog is under the immediate charge and control of a competent person.
[and]
Dogs and/or cats are not allowed to run at large. (Except in designated off-leash dog parks)"

I admit I have been guilty in the past of letting my dog off leash (why I didn't think the rules applied to me I don't know), but after a few run-ins myself with off-leash dogs I've become wiser and now keep him leashed unless he's in our backyard.
