Without getting into specifics, I work in an industry that occasionally puts me into contact with people who are trying to rid themselves of a colony of honey bees that have taken up residence either in their house or perhaps one of their outbuildings.  
 
Considering the precarious state of the honey bee in general, I would love to hear what recommendations I could give people on how to deal with this/who to talk to (without the obvious suggestion of killing the bees.) I have no idea what's involved and how difficult it would be to 'relocate' a colony. I'm not sure if large, established apiaries would be willing to bring in wild bees for fear of disease or some other reason. Perhaps beekeepers on a smaller scale would be interested in this?

Would think there would be a local bee person (honey farmer? Beekeeper? Lol) would have those answers. They could likely point in right direction of they can't help. But would definately contact a honey farm directly since they know news and Lilly can help even if just telling you whom to contact.

I have a friend who is very involved with beekeeping (his family are beekeepers). It’s actually very hard to move a hive and it’s very specific times of the year. That being said, serious bee keepers won’t want outside colonies. There’s actually a lot of science that goes into bees and their genetic lines. Outside colonies can introduce disease to established hive communities.

Chances are those bees are from the hives that have been set out this spring. You probably have a yard of bee hives within a mile. They are not wild as some may think. Removal probably could be done under a few conditions. Cost and I am thinking you would have to accept that they are going to cut a few holes in the outer wall. Once retrieved they probably could be used to make another hive if you introduce a queen bee to the hive. Now if you just leave be they will use that as there home for the year. Come winter though they will all perish because of our winters here if they are not protected from the elements. Next year the same thing will happen all over again cause the bees are looking for food when there is very little and they will find this spot with the honey from the year before.

for the information! I figured it wouldn't be an easy process.

A few years ago we had a colony of honey bees show up on our wall. A bee fsrmer did come and climb up and swept them into one of those bee boxes. He was quite happy because he did get the queen and later that year he gave us a 4, liter pail of the money from those bees.. so..must be somewhat possible! We didn't want to kill them and anyone we called that was the suggestion we got.

We have a hobby farm 7 mins nw of Brandon. We d love some bees. pm me for more details.
