Favorite Bob Seger songs are Against The Wind, Hollywood Nights, Fire Lake, Main Street, Night Moves and Roll Me Away. Old Time Rock 'n' Roll got played to death after the movie with Tom Cruise. Before that, it wasn't one of his most played songs on radio.

Unleash the Archers a close second, awesome Canadian metal band

Bob Segar is one of my all time favorites. And I do love Old Time Rock and Roll for sure, but it is not his best. It is really does follow a formula similar to many pop songs. One of his more simplistic songs to be sure. I still love listening to it of course, since he is so good, but he has better.

China Grove Long Train Running etc.

There are many bands and songs that I have really enjoyed over the years through the 70's, 80's 90's and today. KISS is one of those bands that has endured the test on time through much of those eras. KISS is my definite "go to" band, but I really "relive my youth" through the Hair band, Glam metal era......Dokken, Ratt, Danger Danger, Quiet Riot, Whitesnake, Motley Crue, Twisted Sister......the list goes on and on.  
 
However......some of the ones close to my heart, because I had the opportunity to see them live in their prime....keeping it Canadian. Bands such as Prism, Streetheart, Queen City Kids, Harlequin, April Wine, Triumph, Coney Hatch , Toronto, Trooper, Orphan...just to name a few.

but one of my favorite songs is "American Pie" by Don Mclean

Doobie Brothers, Toronto, Kiss, KC & The Sunshine band, Supertramp, REO Speedwagon, CCR, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Guns n Roses, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, Eagles, Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind & Fire, Foreigner, Journey, Prince, Diamond Rio, Shenandoah, Alabama, Big and Rich, Eagles, Kentucky Headhunters and so many more! Blue Rodeo is another fav!

there are alot of good bands and songs,I lean more towards bands like Judas Priest, Scorpions, Prism, Queensryche, Steelheart, some old stuff of Metallica, Rush, older Blondie stuff, some Boston, Journey with Steve Perry, and a song or two from Tears for Fears, Ultravox ("dancing with tears in my eyes") and song or two from Peter Shilling, and some stuff from Skid Row, a song or two from GNR, some tunes from Motley Crue, some Bay City Rollers (stop laughing lol) ,A-ha song Sun always shines, Slaughter, Lee Aaron, but I think music and fave tunes can be helpful to relax or escape temp crap lol Always head bang to Judas Priest lol And like trying to sing to Steelheart's I'll Never Let You Go, or a Queensryche tune (they do a good cover of Scarborough Fair) or a Prism tune or Skid Row's 18 & Life or Wasted Time or a Journey tune. I do like when they use classic tunes in movies. Like Kansas's Wayward Son. Agree the 80's-90's hair metal rocks....yet good stuff from the 70's diff tunes from Zep, Nazareth, Prism, Lynard Skynard, Journey, etc.  
MTV and Midnight Special were cool when they had bands on lol

I go through my Spotofy so often and take off songs and add new songs all the time, I need to stop lol. I also enjoy nu-metal, like Limp Bizkit, Korn, ect, but thats going into early 2000s. Same with dance/techno/dubstep.  
 
I love music that either has a good beat, or good to sing along too. I am embarrased to say that there are some Justin Bieber songs I enjoy, but not for the lyrics or him, but the beat of the music, and there are other artists like that for me too.  
 
Oh and being a 90s kid, I was all over the boy bands/girl bands :D

I have a fondness for any music Southern fried and greasy, from Skynyrd to .38 Special, Molly Hatchet, Little Feat (OK, technically a California band, but they definitely had a Southern groove) Blackberry Smoke, Blackfoot, The Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker, etc., but if I had to pick ONE group, it would be The Outlaws (Hughie Thomasson vocals) A song like Green Grass and High Tides Forever is the quintessential Southern Rock Jam session. While not as famous/played into the ground as Freebird, it stands on its own merits for studies in dynamics and guitar fireworks.
