I was thinking about this when goldfish started a discussion about what are peoples thoughts on their top 5 songs.  
What i want to know is what happened to the people who sit around all evening listening to good music n drinking beer. LOL  
I haven't done something like this with a group friends for a very long time.  
Oh how I miss the 80's n 90's house parties.

I did this Friday night it was an awesome time. Totally spontaneous get together.

House parties back in the day were great! Totally agree on missing them

drinking beer around the kitchen table  
and playing cards  
listening to music on the turntable.

I don't drink, but I totally get what you mean. It seems like if people get together at all these days it's to play video games. (I'm also not a gamer...) bit just getting a good crowd together for good times send grateful music seems dead. Then again, look at the current top 40 rock charts and good music seems harder and harder to find these days. And that's not coming from some super crotchety old man, I'm 30.

If people come over, we just sit around the table and have a few drinks and listen to music. We've been doing it that way for years, and not just at our house, but all of our friends houses.

Read it wrong....just my initials lol....and we listen to pretty much everything....but I do hate rap...

Oh I agreed that it doesn't matter about age. I just mean that whenever you hear someone saying there isn't any good music anymore, people tend to picture some old man in his rocking chair shaking his fist about "kids these days and their music."  
 
I'm actually not really into metal either. I like bands like Death Cab for Cutie, Jimmy Eat World, Oasis, Our Lady Peace, Gaslight Anthem, Taking Back Sunday etc.  
 
Regardless though, I guess it doesn't matter what music I listen to. My point was that people rarely gather to listen to good music anymore. It's too bad.

that's my point n that's why I posted music n beer I'm a heavy metal head from days gone past.
