Fuse lamps. Where is a good place to purchase them?

I need five 8V 300mA fuse lamps for my stereo receiver. I haven't had much luck around Brandon and the prices on line are ridiculous (when you add in shipping).

Any suggestions?

Maybe bulk purchase with other folks to save on shipping?

Prices seem to be going through the roof. $17 US for 5 lamps, plus $16 US shipping. That's getting close to $9 CDN per lamp!

Three years ago, I bought them from a guy for about $1 to $3 each and $8 shipping. I sent him an email, but haven't heard back yet.

sorry what is a fuse lamp?ive delt with a lot of online electronics suppliers before so i may know where to find them if i knew what they were

Fuse lamps are light bulbs....

They look like a standard glass tube fuse, except that they light up when a current passes through them. I believe that they are typically used in older electronics like amplifiers and receivers to backlight vu meters, dial scales, etc.

I hope that makes sense! I'm just a guy trying to replace the lights in my receiver at a reasonable cost.

I tried LEDs once before. The are far brighter than incandescent and don't effectively replicate the original look that I'm going for. Thanks for the suggestion, though!

That would be a nice option cost-wise. So much cheaper!

I'll just keep looking.
