I shoveled out my driveway on Tuesday and I came home from work today to find that my next door neighbor to the north of me didn't appreciate the fact that I placed some snow from my driveway onto their front lawn. They took the time and effort to shovel it off of their lawn and place it back in my driveway. Any thoughts as to what I should do? In the past, they have never contacted me by any means to inform me that they didn't like this.

it seems like they are pretty childish. if they have an issue with this they should at least have the decency to come and talk to you and let you know. Since they haven't I would suggest taking your snowblower and filling their driveway up while they are at work or if you have an animal, take it onto their property to do its business!

Either leave it be or shovel the snow back onto their driveway. I mean you could definitely shovel it back onto their driveway (*effort) or just let it be....I get it.. the principle is the main idea here but consider what it is worth to you in the long term. Crappy that they did that.. but do you have a decent relationship with them?

If it's their private property, then you really shouldn't be putting anything on it, even snow that melts eventually.  
 
If it's the city frontage, then as far as I've been told, it's fine for a resident to put snow there but snow removal companies can't dump snow onto city or private property.

Just shovel it onto your property and forget about it. No point in being an arse about it and starting a fight with your neighbour or having your neighbour out to get you for the rest of the time you live next to them.

I would take free water for my lawn. The price is going up.

Good idea, unless you have a basement that has potential to leak. Any added moisture next to foundation can cause a lot of grief. It’s one thing if Mother Nature piles it up in the area near foundation, it’s another if it’s a neighbour adding their dump to yours.  
 
I know we personally hate it when our neighbour shoots all his snow, literally right at and against our house. I’ve had to stop my husband from going out there to put it all back in his driveway. We haven’t done it yet, but it may happen in the future. But that particular neighbour is rude, disruptive, and couldn’t care less about anyone but himself.  
If it was our other neighbour, we’d let it slide, just because he’s always more considerate. Our driveway is 2 feet inside our property line so we always keep it to our own property.  
 
I say shovel it onto your own lawn, and let it go. But that’s just my option. Good luck!

don't know how those neighbors get along but even the snow should not be dumped on their private this is still childish behavior to act this way moving back the snow on the driveway. That neighbor will not get my vote if they decide to become a mayor.  
I think a knock on the door or phone call to let someone know not to shovel snow on their property in the future. This is only snow only it wasn't garbage or littering dumped the property. It would be an issue if it would have been a semi of snow dumped on your property.

It's childish what they did, but also inconsiderate of you to shovel your snow onto their property in the first place. It's like throwing your trash into the neighbors yard to a lesser degree obviously since it eventually melts.

That way you felt when you stormed into your house and fired up your computer, logged onto eBrandon and started this thread...was exactly how they felt when they walked out and saw their neighbor had shoveled off their driveway and just dumped the snow in their yard. Do you do do that with your grass clippings in the summer?  
 
Instead of crying to the anonymous masses...they did the same passive aggressive thing you're doing...just in a different form.
