If you are up to speed and signal your intent to merge most cars will let you in. If you slow to a crawl then don't expect traffic to stop so you can sneak in! " |

If there’s a yield sign in the lane, then it not a merge lane. This is one of those. " |

This is an error on the part of the province. Exiting Kirkaldy to 1st south there is a merge lane. The "yield" sign at the start of the acceleration lane should NOT be there. There is nothing to yield to. That lane is a continuation of the exit from Kirkaldy. If anything, there should be a "merge" sign at the end of that lane.
A similar situation exists in many places in Winnipeg. A great example is the exit from Main northbound to Chief Peguis eastbound. There is a full quarter mile of acceleration lane there, but there is a "yield" sign at the start of it.
With the terrible signage in Manitoba, it's no wonder that residents of this province don't know how to drive.
